Colonial Candle of Cape Cod
Founded in 1909 by Mabel Baker, Colonial Candle of Cape Cod® was the first woman owned candle company with wide distribution. The brand was inspired by its location in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
In the early 1900s, school-teacher Mabel started making hand-crafted candles from the wild bayberries in her native town Cape Code. She gave them as Christmas gifts to her friends and family. Her bayberry candles were in such high demand that Baker began selling them in Cape Cod stores and quickly expanded nationwide. People of Cape Cod called the Colonial Candle factory the "The Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory" of Lights.
